PLDT posts ‘breakout’ enterprise revenues for 2017

by PLDT Public Affairs | Mar 21, 2018
Managed IT, cloud services boost ICT revenues

PLDT SVP Jovy Hernandez discusses PLDT's Enterprise Business during the financial and operating results media briefing at the Shangri-La Makati on March 8. Also shown in photo are PLDT Chief Financial Officer Anabelle L. Chua, Chairman and CEO Manny Pangilinan, Chief Corporate Services Officer Ray C. Espinosa, and Chief Revenue Officer Ernesto R. Alberto.

Leading telecoms and digital services provider PLDT posted a record P34.1 billion of revenues in 2017 from its enterprise business, up 11% from the previous year.

Setting the pace for the industry, ICT service revenues alone jumped by 26%, powered by the 59% increase in Managed IT services and the 49% growth in Cloud Services.

Managed IT services include Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Managed Service Desk, Managed Infrastructure, ERP Implementation, and Application Lifecycle Support. Cloud service include infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Contact Center-as-a-Service, and Cloud Professional Services. Data center services such as co-location, peering, and managed server hosting services also posted a double-digit 10% year-on-year growth.

“We are jumping to the next curve from being the preferred managed infrastructure provider to a trusted managed services provider where we create value for clients through our integrated tools, skills-based expertise, global-practice methodologies, and broad ecosystem of partners. This aligns with our strategic intent to further solidify our position as the trusted partner and thought leader in the enterprise market,” said PLDT SVP and Head of Enterprise Business Jovy Hernandez.

“Our robust growth in Managed IT Services and the strategic focus on building a Cyber Security practice among enterprises will further diversify PLDT’s revenue streams beyond Data Center and Cloud for the group,” Hernandez said.

PLDT, through its enterprise units ALPHA Enterprise and SME Nation, continues to equip industries with world-class data services strategically packaged with innovative solutions addressing specific gaps among businesses and government clients.

“We are also delivering unprecedented growth across all business pillars – banking and finance, conglomerates, IT and Business Process Outsourcing, gaming, and the public sector. We continue to grow faster than industry, further strengthening our leadership in these sectors,” Hernandez pointed out.

The Enterprise Group is leading PLDT’s efforts to help spur local development throughout the country. In October 2017, PLDT launched its ‘Smart City’ program which aims to provide local governments and communities with innovative digital platforms that will improve public services, people’s welfare and local economic and social development. The first initiative under this program is #Ready which will equip local governments with digital communications and information management solutions that enable them to manage public safety, emergency and disaster situations more effectively.

PLDT has also partnered with Go Negosyo to launch the SME e-commerce enablement program. In cooperation with the Department of Trade and Industry and participating local governments, the program will train and enable small businesses to set up and manage online stores through Tackthis!, the online store builder of Voyager. This platform also provides small businesses with the logistics support and extends their reach to a wider market nationwide through Takatack (www.takatack.com), Voyager’s virtual marketplace. Merchants who participate in the program also get access to the digital payment services of PayMaya, as well as digital loans for MSMEs through the partner banks and financial institutions of Lendr.
