Leading telco and digital services provider PLDT is among this year’s top donors in the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) Pediatric Blood Center bloodletting program.
During this year’s awards, entitled “2018 Annual Pagkilala at Pasasalamat”, PLDT, through the efforts of its employee volunteers, is the recipient of three Blood Galloner-Pearl Award. These PLDT employees donated a total of nine bags of whole blood.
PLDT annually participates in PCMC’s bloodletting program since 2003. For the past 15 years, PLDT has consistently received the Blood Galloners through the Pearl and Ruby Awards.
The Pearl Award is given to donors who has donated nine whole blood, while the Ruby Award is given to donors who donated 23 whole blood. The beneficiaries of the blood donations are indigent cancer children patients.
Aside from the Blood Galloner Award, PLDT also received various recognitions throughout the years. This year, PLDT is the recipient of the Gawad Pagtutulungan Special Award, which is given to companies that voluntarily hold bloodletting activities where donors have reached a total of 2,000 people.
“PLDT has always believed in changing the lives of the Filipino people. By doing such simple yet courageous acts such as donating blood, it is a humbling experience to see visible changes in someone else’s life,” said PLDT Community Relations Head Katherine P. Diaz De Rivera.
