Gabay Guro, the education advocacy and flagship program of the PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF), recently turned over the brand new house and lot to last year’s raffle winner during the Grand Gathering 2017. In partnership with Bellavita, Gabay Guro gave away two brand new house and lots to two lucky teachers during last year’s Grand Gathering as it celebrated its 10th anniversary. One of the lucky winners was 34-year old May Asuncion Dimaano from Tondo, Manila.

Dimaano, who has been a Grade 1 teacher for nine years now, is a teacher from Rosauro Almario Elementary School in Tondo, Manila. According to Dimaano, winning the house and lot is like a dream to her. “I really couldn’t believe that I have won until I can see it — until it is finally here. It’s like a dream come true for me. I would like to thank PLDT, Gabay Guro, and Bellavita for this gift of a new home,” Dimaano said.

Patience is indeed a virtue as Dimaano’s dream home is now within her reach. She recalls her journey as she joined the crowd consisting of over 20,000 people gathered in the Mall of Asia Arena. “Masaya na kami nang makita naming mag-perform ‘yung mga artista. Pero hindi talaga ako makapaniwala nang manalo ako. Tinawagan ko agad ‘yung asawa ko para sabihin na nanalo ako pero kahit siya, hindi rin makapaniwala. This is really a blessing for us,” Dimaano said.

“In Gabay Guro, we believe in shaping the lives of the people who continuously change the lives of our future leaders — the youth of today. Through our annual Grand Gathering, we make sure they feel loved and appreciated. More than anything, we give them opportunities that allow each one of them to thrive. We also thank our partners and sponsors who make this commitment with us,” said PLDT SVP and Gabay Guro Chairperson Chaye Cabal-Revilla.
