PLDT Community Relations (ComRel) Division led by Katherine P. Diaz De Rivera, along with the PLDT International Submarine Cable Network Department, turn over refurbished personal computer units to Barangay Bagasbas, Daet.

PLDT, through its Community Relations Division, continues to empower the women members of the Rural Workers Muladbucad Pequeno Association in Guinobatan, Albay through the Bicol Eco Bag Project.

Undertaken in partnership with the Motolite-Philippine Business for Social Progress Balik Baterya Program and the Coalition of Bicol Development, the project aims to enrich the lives of the women sewers of Albay by providing various livelihood opportunities for them.

PLDT has turned over three units of sewing machines and one printing machine for heat press and printing of design. The women will also be given various trainings on values formation, production and marketing.

“The women sewers were really determined to learn new skills, produce quality products and expand their market. Through the PLDT Bicol Eco Bag Project, families affected by the Mayon eruption in 2018 found a new source of income to sustain their daily needs,” said PLDT ComRel Head Katherine Diaz de Rivera.

The eco bags formed part of the Corporate Social Responsibility exhibit held at the PLDT main office during the Company’s 90th anniversary.

Meanwhile, PLDT ComRel, in partnership with the International Submarine Cable Network division, turned over refurbished personal computer units to Barangay Bagasbas in Daet, Camarines Norte to support the digital needs of the community where the PLDT Daet Cable Landing Station is located.

“We have been working harmoniously with the local government of Daet and Barangay Bagasbas which hosts one of PLDT’s Cable Landing Stations, and we are only too glad to help the Barangay meet its computer requirements that would improve the efficiency of its workforce,” Diaz de Rivera said.

In December 2018, PLDT sponsored the Belen-making contest in Barangay Bagasbas, adding excitement to the Christmas celebration in the community.
