PLDT Marikina Customer Service and Operations Zone Head Romerico Gonzales with PLDT ComRel Staff Alice Tuazon and Annie Ferrer lead the turnover of PLDT relief packs to Marikina City Personnel Office Head Janet Obispo. They are joined by PLDT and Smart employee volunteers.
At the core of every PLDT employee is the value of malasakit, that even the combined forces of Tropical Storm Karding and monsoon Habagat cannot dampen the spirit of 10 employees who braved the rains last Sunday to bring relief to some displaced families in Marikina City.
Led by PLDT Community Relations Division and together with the invaluable efforts of PLDT Marikina Customer Service Operations Zone (CSOZ) Head Romerico Gonzales and the PLDT Employee Volunteers, PLDT was immediately able to donate 500 relief packs containing ready-to-cook meals and drinks to families who are seeking shelter at the Marikina Sports Complex.
“PLDT is in the best position to provide immediate assistance to these families, leveraging on its hardworking and reliable network of Employee Volunteers. Through these efforts, we do not just display an outstanding corporate citizenship, but more importantly, we are also able to help more families feel safe and warm despite the raging storm,” said PLDT Community Relations Division Head Katherine Diaz De Rivera.
“Marikina City has always been there for PLDT. Last Sunday, we were merely returning the same loyalty by showing them that they can count on us in times of great need. This humble initiative, when taken on a nationwide level, greatly displays the Company’s commitment to Filipinos and we are honored to have been a part of it,” said Mr. Gonzales.
As of writing, hundreds of families are still in evacuation centers.
