It was a day that sent all the love to Mother Earth. PLDT, through its Community Relations (ComRel) Division, recently supported the Marikina Watershed Family Fun Run 2018 held at the Marikina Sports Complex, Marikina City. The proceeds from the family fun run will go to the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP)’s collective impact initiatives, including notable projects with long-time partner telco giant PLDT.
“People often forget how much more we should take care of our environment. The continuous preservation of the Marikina Watershed is such a wonderful reminder that through the simplest things, we can and we will be able to send back all the love we can for our one true home — Mother Earth,” said PLDT ComRel Head Katherine Diaz De Rivera.

Extending its utmost support to PBSP, PLDT with some of its employee-volunteers participated in the family fun run around the Center and along Marikina River Park. Some of the activity highlights also include dancing with the event’s Zumba and Anytime Fitness instructors; collecting flexible plastics such as sachets and sando bags at home and exchanging a kilo of these for Unilever products; and buying fresh vegetables from the program’s assisted farmers in the Marikina Watershed.

The event also raffled off some exciting prizes from product sponsors. As one of the event sponsors, PLDT also set up a booth in the venue — making the day a fun-filled one.
2018 marks PBSP’s 9th year of working in the Marikina Watershed which started as a response to the tragic Typhoon Ondoy. With its outstanding partners like PLDT, PBSP has rehabilitated at least 222 hectares and assisted the communities situated in the Marikina Watershed to date.
