PLDT Cebu recently collaborated with a Cebu-based contractor Wuhan Fiberhome for the 3rd Teleskills competition. In coordination with PLDT Cebu AVP Rene J. Lescano and Quality Assessment (QA) Officer Ram Perez, the event was supported by the local PLDT partners, who acted as board of judges, chaired by Workforce Management Officer (WMO) Roel Canete and co-chaired by Titing Sayson and June Acojedo.

The theme was adopted from PLDT’s same competition held in the 1990s during which Main Station Installation (MSI) teams composed of two technicians competed with one another through actual installation. The winner was determined based on the criteria set by the board of judges, which includes Quality, Awareness of safety procedures, and Speed.
Fiberhome Cebu consists of seven areas, namely Jones, Mactan, North Cebu, Mandaue, Talisay, South Cebu, and Bohol. The Talisay team emerged as the grand champion, followed by the Mandaue team.
Shown here are the two competing teams in action.
The competition was aimed at enhancing the FTTH skills of Fiberhome installers and developing the spirit of competitiveness that will result to good quality service and better individual output. “This contest is an effective tool as the effect became visible right after the first two competitions. Our technicians became more productive and aware of the technical standards that needed to be followed in installing FTTH,” said Fiberhome (FH) Operations Manager Jomar Guansing.
PLDT judges and guests, together with Fiberhome management and participants, are all smiles right after the successful event.
The success of the event can be attributed to the full support of Lescano and Fiberhome Cebu top management headed by its Project Manager Nick Li, Operations Managers Jomar Guansing and Jore Tang, Platform Manager Allen Liu, Sales Manager Fred Li, QA Manager Leo Omolon, and the rest of the management and HR staff, guests, and participants.
